I thought this article was really interesting. I thought it was cool how she talked about the value of getting into the professional world and observing how professionals interact with each other. For a really long time I didn't think I would go to school because I wanted to do just that. I wanted to just throw myself into the professional world and learn in a very hands-on way. Obviously this has changed a little bit, however, I still think it is one of the most valuable tools. I think there is a balance to formal education and professional experience. Like she said, even learning how to make coffee correctly is important. I also just enjoyed learning about a job that is pretty far out of my wheelhouse. Sound has always been intimidating for me! I also enjoyed learning about something that was not theatre related. I think sometimes I get so focused on theatrical tech and forget that there are so many options and pathways I could take.
