WGA Reaches Tentative Deal with Studios

IndieWire: It appears the writers strike is finally coming to an end. On Sunday, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) told its members that the guild has reached a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on a new minimum basic agreement.

I’m surprised to hear that the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has finally reached an agreement. It is also shocking to hear that this has been the longest strike in guild history. For some reason, I thought that there was a strike longer than 146 days. It makes me very happy to hear that WGA has claimed that the agreement they have reached is “exceptional.” I was very worried that this would not be the case. I wonder how long it will take until the contract is “ratified.” But it is great to hear that they have been able to discuss all of the issues. I think it's amazing that they were able to work on a solution to residuals, the writer’s room, and AI. For some reason, I missed the fact that the Directors Guild already reached a deal with the studios on June 4th. I did not know that the directors also had issues and that there already was an agreement made.
