This is an incredibly important initiative for Mayor Eric Adams to put forward. I know he is mostly looking at it from an economic standpoint- live performances bring tourists to NYC. As the creative capital of the world, NYC must continue to support the arts and make sure that theater stays alive. When reading the last article and hearing about robots, it is always a little disheartening to discover that those kinds of live performances may be more successful. BUt watching a broadway show or live music at Radio City or a dance performance at the Joyce- to me that is pure magic. The council seems at little large- too many cooks? But hopefully their collective interests will outweigh their individual needs so they can come together to make sure that the magic of live art never disappears.
