Hollywood Turns to Actors’ Strike After Writers Agree to Deal

The New York Times: Hollywood’s actors are back in the spotlight. With screenwriters reaching a tentative agreement with the major entertainment studios on a new labor deal on Sunday night, one big obstacle stands in the way of the film and TV industry roaring back to life: ending the strike with tens of thousands of actors. The two sides have not spoken in more than two months, and no talks are scheduled.

Finally! I cannot imagine how much hard work, lost hours of work, and time the people who were striking had to go through. The stress and loss of money in addition to many other downsides of striking have finally made a breakthrough to the other side. Striking is no easy task for the faint of heart, and the fact that these people were finally able to force their way into the conversation is incredible. I hope that the major corporations honor their deals and stick to giving the writers fair pay. I am incredibly proud of everyone who stood with the strike because it takes an immense amount of courage and love for something in order to go through with a strike. I hope that those who participated can rest easy for now and take a break in order to recuperate. I also hope this shows the importance of standing up for what is right because without people willing to make sacrifices, we would have nothing. My hats off to you.
