Even Bill Maher Has Reversed Course on Strikebreaking

The Mary Sue: Bill Maher was set to become the first, and only, late-night host to come back to TV despite the ongoing writer’s strike. He had publicly undermined and insulted his writers recently, and scoffed at the idea that they should be able to make a living by writing. His show, Real Time With Bill Maher, was going to return without writers and in a slightly different fashion.

I didn’t have respect for Bill Maher before so this honestly isn’t all that much of a surprise. I’m a little more confused than anything why he didn’t make an attempt to pretend to care in the second post. Most of the time they will pretend to be doing it for the benefit of the people they were hurting before but in this instance he makes no such claim and instead makes up a different fake reason. This is a tad perplexing as he could have tried to win back some of the people he pissed off but he probably just doesn’t care and would rather let everyone who can hear him know that he doesn’t care about his writers or anyone who works for him as he doesn’t believe they should be payed a proper wage. Also, I really appreciate this writer’s commentary as they provide some interesting points about cancel culture.
