Collier’s Weekly: Visit a Kennywood Icon ... in the Dark
Pittsburgh Magazine: For an added fee, guests to the park’s autumn festivities can inch their way through Noah’s Ark in enveloping darkness. In certain corridors, the light disappears completely around a corner, the sounds of the park beyond turn distant and eerie and you’re left to grasp into the darkness hoping you don’t run into one of the haunt actors lurking beyond.

This sounds like so much fun! I am a huge fan of all things Halloween and would love to explore the Kennywood grounds with their fright season in full swing. Seeing as I just recently moved here, I have not yet been able to go to Kennywood when it is in its normal season, so I think seeing it now would be a really cool experience. Also with the complete darkness effect, I am so intrigued by. I want to see if the author of this article is expressing this truthfully, because so far I have not seen a completely dark part of any haunted house, or scare attraction. I am really interested in going now and I want to see if it really is completely dark. Also I was a scare actor for a haunted house that my school did, and it was incredible. We actually turned one of our whole buildings into a haunted house and it was an amazing experience. So they hold a special place in my heart, and I mean come on, who doesn’t love the adrenaline rush!
Wow, this place sounds like a really cool visit. Haunted houses and horror activities have never been my thing, however it is intriguing to learn more about them, and to see other people's passions for them. When I ask my friends why they like the idea of ‘thrill’ and ‘getting spooked’ they say they like it for the adrenaline rush, while I do not agree, I still find it fascinating. A person's want to try and scare people, to get their blood rushing. The Kennywood’s Phantom Fall Fest, utilizes darkness, a common fear of peoples to create a thriller type place for people to visit. Darkness is interesting because people are scared of it because they don't know what it holds. It could be complete emptiness and dark and someone could be terrified. Or maybe being alone would be the scary part for some people. But fear usually stems from the unknown so darkness is perfect to trap someone in their thoughts. They also use typical horror stunts like the Mad Hatter and a malfunctioning hospital, it is interesting how fears are typically passed down, people have been scared of these things for decades and it wont stop there.
