Opus Award 2024: Prolight + Sound launches application phase

LightSoundJournal.com: With the upswing of last year’s season behind it, the 2023 event industry is shining in new splendor. Many theatres and concert venues took advantage of the Corona pandemic to upgrade their technical equipment and are wowing audiences and critics with even more impressive productions. This year’s festival summer and numerous sold-out shows are encouraging evidence of the renewed zest for life.

I was surprised to hear that venues were upgrading their technology over covid, especially considering they weren’t making money at that time. Although it does make sense given that major construction cannot take place while events are performing anyway. Either way, it’s really exciting to see such a boom in entertainment after covid and especially to see the innovation it’s sparked. Hopefully even though the smaller and medium sized companies are still struggling, the larger companies’ boom will create space for the smaller and medium sized companies to “get back up” as it were. I know from personal experience that people in even larger spaces such as Broadway are still being impacted. Finding work is hard due to the sheer number of people vying for the same few jobs. I look forward to the innovation and the job market getting back to where it used to be. Hopefully it won’t be for that much longer.
