BEETLEJUICE Will Launch National Tour in December 2022
a href="https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/North-American-Tour-of-BEETLEJUICE-to-Launch-December-2022-in-San-Francisco-20220414">www.broadwayworld.com: What a week in the Netherworld! In addition to the reopening of the Broadway production at the Marquis Theatre last Friday, April 8, the producers of BEETLEJUICE have announced the launch of a North American Tour in December 2022. The tour will begin at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre before continuing to more than 50 cities coast-to-coast, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, and a return to The National Theatre in Washington, DC, where the show first earned its stripes during its pre-Broadway engagement in 2018.

I am so excited about this tour! I did not get a chance to see this show before it closed due to the pandemic so I am so thrilled that not only is it opening again on broadway, but that it is also going on tour! I instantly went to the tour dates for Pittsburgh and will definitely be getting tickets to go see it. I adore the movie and have heard nothing but good reviews about the musical. The songs that I have heard are all so good. The creative team is so stacked with amazing and talented names that have done such beautiful work, and I am sure that this show is no exception. I also cannot wait to see how they incorporated the puppets, makeup, and special effects from the movie into the stage adaption. The team that they put together to incorporate these elements are wildly talented and from the pictures I already know that they will be wonderful.
Like Hadley, I am very excited to hear this! I think that December 2022 is a great projected time to launch national tour, especially with consideration of the pandemic. I hope for a smooth and covid safe and free trip for the cast and crew, and I would be delighted to see it if things line up! I sadly have never seen the musical, but I have only heard good things. I remember watching the movie as a kid and it was the scariest thing in the world. But it was the first movie that was scary, but made me laugh and enjoy it. It was definitely a turning point in my movie watching, so I am excited to see how a lot of those mystical scenes are portrayed in a musical theater experience. With the amount of fan support as well as big named people in the industry powering it, I have no doubt that this will not only be a success, but will be a way to bring in new audiences (and old) back to broadway and live theater, especially after the pandemic.
I am VERY interested to see how this tour is staged. I had the opportunity to see this production in December 2019, and understand that a large part of the set is these huge moving houses. The Wintergarden theatre is a large stage, so it could accommodate this size. However, when touring, there is no consistency in your venue size. There is the possibility of some theatres not being able to house the full set. In general, sets on tours is incredibly interesting to me. There become a lot more logistical boundaries when you have to be constantly transporting a set. I understand that, for some productions, the set needs to be redesigned. For example, my mom and I often discuss Mary Poppins. For the Broadway version, there was a large house set that physically sunk and rose on stage. I assumed it had some sort of hydraulic system. That is something you can't put into every theatre. So, the problem has to be trouble shot, and the set was changed. It seems like a very fun problem to deal with!
F*ck yeah! BEETLEJUICE announces a National Tour, that’s crazy! When producers announced the show would be shutting down to welcome Hugh Jackman’s “The Music Man” I was disappointed. Now, I am aware of BEETLEJUICE's relocation as of today but still. And while I am not the biggest fan of David Korins, for reasons I do not wish to discuss at this moment, I have been following BEETLEJUICE's development since it began to be considered for a musical. I must admit I did not have a chance to watch the Broadway production, but as any theatre kid I’ve seen every clip there is on the internet and once stalked the creative team, cast, and crew. On that note, what I am most excited about is seeing how the creative adapts the multi-story Broadway set on tracks to one that is easily transportable across theatres yet true to the original vision.
