'I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm sorry.' Documents reveal new details about 'Rust' shooting

It is honestly really difficult to keep reading details about this tragic event but it is important that we do because it so heavily affects our industry. It is extremely vital that something like this never happens again, so we have to learn from their mistakes and take as much precaution as necessary. First of all, it’s good that they were fined that amount, which was $136,793. That is the maximum fine for a safety violation. Additionally, it is crazy to me that there were even talks that someone brought in a mislabeled box of rounds, so instead of fakes they were real, or that half of the box contained “bad” rounds which meant live ammunition. When handling firearms that should never even be a question and if it is don’t even take the chance because at the end of the day it’s not worth it. It’s interesting to read about where the blame is shifting.

It is amazing to see how muddled everything in this case is. First of all the safety fine seems ridiculously low. Having a fine is a good thing, but when the fine is the possible difference between someone being alive and being killed, $136,793 is way too low. Second I am so glad that they are continuing to seriously look into this terrible event, but I sincerely hope that after it is all said and done that there is some serious change to the film industry and how they handle prop weapons. I am also astounded at some of the quotes from the armorer on the set. The one that is sticking with me the most is that right after the weapon was shot, Hannah Gutierrez Reed was saying that the event was going to ruin her career. A woman had just been fattily shot and that. Is her career is what she was thinking about. I will be very interested to see what happens in the rest of the investigation in regards to her and her statements and texts. it seems like the blame is really starting to point to her negligence.
