ASM Global Rolling Out Facial Recognition Ticketing With PopID
www.ticketnews.com: Facial recognition technology is up and running at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, and set to expand widely through venues operated by ASM Global, according to a recent news release. The technology, powered by PopID, will allow for both venue entry and payment at concession areas.

The first thing I thought about when reading this article about biometric data and facial recognition was how scary the dangers of it can be. This made me really appreciate that the article addressed this and touched on this truth. I agree with the article in that the scale facial recognition has gotten to is beyond fun- it is scary. If I were an artist or sports performer, I definitely would not feel comfortable with my face being "deep faked", and it makes sense why there are people fighting against it. I think used in a purely imaginary and fun way can be very beneficial to the progression of technology, but using it on real people is a bit far. I found it interesting that the article, once mentioning the controversies of facial recognition, kept discussing the negatives and dangers of it. Though as cool as it may be, I must agree that this is a bit too far and simply unnecessary- there are other ways to do things.
