Lincoln Center to offer free programming in NYC and online

DC Metro Theater Arts: To make the arts more accessible to everyone, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts has announced an exciting spring season of free and choose-what-you-pay programming, beginning on Sunday, February 27, and running through Wednesday, June 15. The extensive roster will feature both in-person and virtual performances, discussions, and civic activations, bringing together dozens of arts organizations and artists from across NYC and beyond to explore the intersection of culture, civic engagement, and community-building through vibrant and varied weekly programming.

This is great news to hear! I'm always excited to see when theatre's are able to extend accessibility to the arts to those less able to pay for these servicesI It's important that we work to make the arts more accessible as we pursue our careers. Not just because it is good for our society to expose as many people as possible to the arts. A less altruistic outlook on services such as these is that, by giving people access to the arts, you are encouraging them to continue supporting the arts at a time when they are more able to pay for these services, allowing you to pass it forward. Obviously the Lincoln Center is a much more high profile and well-funded venue than say, Everyman Theatre in Baltimore. But it's still good to see this kind of programming put out. We could use so much more of it.
