Its always good news when traveling art installations or companies are able to buy permanent locations to put up their shows, and often places like these become staples of the respective cities that they are located as is in the case for The Ice Cream Factory or Sprinkle World. Oftentimes with these interactive and immersive art exhibits, the subject is very light and fun. I understand why this happens as it is more palatable for everyone and it has more of a chance to become a mainstream tourist attraction. In the future as things like this get more popular, I hope that we see more variation with these types of exhibits and I hope they can merge the world of other art galleries with these so we could see some pieces that take us through the minds of artists with different styles than what we’ve seen before in these immersive spaces.
This sounds like an incredible experience. I love that the pop up art gallery is getting a permanent space and, from the sound of it this place will be massively successful. I love the idea of the immersive nature of this gallery and the focus on local artists is so important and will most likely lead to a very fun rotating gallery. From the description this gallery reminds me of the experience I had at the Van Gogh traveling exhibit. There was an exhibit space followed by a gift shop area and a lounge with a themed cocktail bar. I think that the idea of having an art gallery be more than just a room with paintings is the way to bring an appreciation for art into the mainstream and draw in audiences that would not normally not go to an art gallery. It's an amazing way for people to "make a day of it" and spend so much time at the gallery. I think that the lounge area at the Sweettooth hotel will be something of a draw in itself. I for one am so excited for the opening of this gallery and I hope I get the chance to go visit.
