Brittney Johnson on Being the First Black Glinda in 'Wicked' on Broadway
www.harpersbazaar.com: Brittney Johnson has manifested her career. She’s done the breathwork, tweeted #BrittneyTheGood enough times to seal the deal, and now will be the first Black woman to lead as Glinda in Wicked on Broadway.

I saw an Instagram video of Brittney taking her first bow as the full-time Glinda and it was a pretty emotional video. It is so inspiring to see someone work hard enough to make it to the top. I am so incredibly happy that this role has a little more of the representation it deserves. Throughout the article, Brittney talks about how this role came so naturally for her and how she (and others) think that the role was made for her. Working so hard for so many years to get what you want out of your job is something that a lot of people forget to talk about, not everything comes quickly. Something that really stuck out for me in this article was; “I feel relieved” in regards to how Brittney felt now that she had achieved this goal of being the first Black Glinda. This is so important because we sometimes forget how much of a burden is put on BIPOC both on and off stage to be the first in whatever role they might be going for. It is a lot of work and I am so glad that Brittney can take a breath and enjoy her time as Glinda.
