Job diary: I run a luxury marriage proposal planning business
www.businessinsider.com: I've always been someone who likes a challenge. I started my company right after graduating college in 2008, when I was only 22 years old.
It wasn't an ideal economy to be looking for a job or launching a brand new business — most people were just trying to keep their jobs — but personally I've found that if you really believe in what you're offering and are also meeting a need, then it can work.

Personally, I am not interested in you getting married and I do not understand the appeal of a diamond ring and a massive ceremony. However, I can see how nice it would feel to receive such a thing from your loved one. It's dramatic, which I can get behind, so if you're into some thing so grand and public, more power to you. I am happy, though, that they mentioned in the article how there could be some serious red flags when it comes to this sort of thing. Every movie that has a confession of love in front of an entire school makes me cringe. That's so much pressure, you can't really say no. Hopefully there is some kind of process with this business or people try to make sure that this isn't a tragic ending. I wish they had included photos of the hundred thousand dollar proposal. I think it would have kind of the same intrigue as looking at ridiculously expensive houses.
I've heard of wedding planning, which is something my sister says I should do in the future, but this is a different level. Wow, I find it very interesting on HOW MUCH people are willing to spend on these things, AND with the slight chance that their partner might say no... (but hopefully they would know if they would say yes or no if they were willing to spend that much). wonder if any women have reached out to this company and planned their engagement because the guy didn't want to but said he would pay for it if she wanted the experience and the photos... I found this to be very funny! "another challenge is because historically 90% of our clients are male, they can be more last-minute" I mean that makes a lot of sense but to someone who hasn't been in the business, you might not even think of those things. Personally, I would be like... ok that's cool but I would get mad at how much was spent to pop the question. Like, come on just give a girl some food and a ring, and BAM you've got a fiancee (lol that's just me tho, some girls do be crazy about love and all that jazz, good on them) I'd love to help a friend in the future with proposing I think that would be so FUN!!!!!
