'Mulan' Costume Designers Prepared for Actors for Action Scenes
Variety: The artisans behind some of this year’s films were tasked with creating a myriad of stunts, regardless of century or setting. While stunt actors execute the physicalities in a script, it’s not without support from other departments, including costumes. A costume may be wonderful, but unless it can withstand the necessary action sequences as well, it just won’t work.

I have worked on a project where there were stunts so i found this article very interesting. I know that actors comfortability is very important especially when it comes to footwear. I am surprised that there have not been any clever ways to alter a sole of a shoe so that it has the comfort of the sneaker but looks likes a period accurate shoe. If not they can also just CGI it to make it look like a normal shoe sole. It was interesting to hear how the leather accessories in Mulan would vary so much based on wat the need of the garment was. It must have been very difficult for the designer and crafts peoples to predetermine this information about what will be needed. I also had never thought about costumes with the bullet shot special effects. That must require a lot of testing and practice to make the final effect.- Evan Riley
