JetBlue Invites Rosco Into The Cockpit

Rosco Spectrum: JetBlue Airlines recognizes the value of compelling video content and has its own in-house team of filmmakers dedicated to producing videos for internal and external distribution. Videographer Zack Caplan is a member of that team, and he has been putting Rosco’s LED solutions to work shooting a multitude of different projects in a variety of situations and locations for the airline.

This was a cool post about an innovative technology, but it did not seem very well rounded in terms of people's opinions about the device. Having an article about how one person really liked this technology and how he uses it to shoot commercials and interviews in weird lighting situations, doesn't really mean the device is as amazing as they make it seem. In this article, they don't mention the cost, or how other people use this device, so it doesn't make me want to buy it, instead, it makes me question the authenticity of the device and the article as a whole. There was very little substantive material, but with more viewpoints and information, I believe the LitePad Vector could be an amazing product, but this article certainly doesn't do the device justice, nor Rosco. Especially since they put Rosco in the title, I just would've expected a better article.

It’s always interesting to see the variety of ways the theatre industry finds its way into a niche in other industries in the world. People don’t often think of how ingrained design and entertainment technologies are in our everday lives. Often those weird little airline videos go unnoticed by the average passenger. But this article shines a bit of light on all of the work that goes into those videos. Not to mention the advertisements. It’s also interesting to note in this article that ROSCO seems like they are trying to expand beyond theatre and move into equipment for film and tv. I’m not sure these profile articles are necessarily the best marketing technique, but it makes their intent clear. I wonder if we will be seeing more ROSCO credits in film and tv projects in the future. As they say in Legally Blonde: The Musical “I’m the one for you, and to prove its true, I even flew here on Jet Blue”

Seems like Rosco has been making many compelling videos with the power of their LED equipment. It is very interesting to see a company like Rosco branching out to this type of business. I have always known them to be primarily a company that provides lighting solutions to the entertainment theatre world but it is very cool to see them using the technology for other applications. A company like jet blue is committed to make high-quality products and bring in a team that specializes in this will allow them to achieve those results. Although nothing about this project was rocket science, you can tell the difference in quality between the professional videos that are displayed in the article. I will be curious to see what other involvement this Rosco team will have with corporate videos. It seems to make a lot of sense given how small the projects are and the money that these companies are will to spend.
