I really enjoy these articles because they remind me of how special the community here at Carnegie Mellon is. I forget sometimes that the passion and need to strive for the best here at Carnegie Mellon is unique. I really like what the interim President Farnam Jahanian said about what the founder would think of what Carnegie Mellon has become. He suggests that it would look different but our motivations and aspirations would be the same. I agree with that. I think these aspirations are seen in the awards given out at the founders day events " I Built Something; I Impacted Something; and I Dreamed Something.". Each of these awards are the core of everything happening at Carnegie Mellon. Here we are encouraged to think out side of the box to create innovative pieces of art and technology. Overall, it is cool to hear that a day to celebrate the founders of the university highlighted the achievements that those founders work have helped lead to in the present.

I absolutely love the community we have at Carnegie Mellon that encourages students of all disciplines to dream and do. Over the course of this semester, I have found myself often caught in Purnell and not really taking note of some of the incredible things that are going on outside of the School of Drama, but it’s articles like this that remind me about how special Carnegie Mellon is and all the incredible things that are being done by alumnus and current students within the school as a whole. It’s crazy to think of how much this school has changed since Carnegie Institute of Technology and the Mellon Institute merged and became the Carnegie Mellon University we know today. Our interim president, Farnam Jahanian, made excellent points about the innovative thinking and creating we have done so far, and acknowledges what is yet to come. This article reminds me about how amazing this school is and how lucky I am to be at a school that encourages its students to be diverse in thinking and challenge themselves in new ways.

CMU definitely has a bright future. I'm very interested to learn more about what our school actually does. I feel like this event brought a lot of very cool projects out of the woodwork. My favorite was probably the robot hockey. It is fascinating to see the power of technology at work and what it can be applied too.

It was also very cool to see CFA work being displayed with the engineering school. This shows what our school is capable of and the diversity that it offers. In my time here I have really enjoyed the interdepartmental atmosphere and how the school encourages this in the academic environment. Some of the most successful people in the world were not people that mastered one particular thing but are able to go out and diversify themselves. This has really encouraged me to pursue other disciplines and I hope many other people at the university will do the same.
