LDI2017 Award Winners Announced

www.livedesignonline.com: The LDI2017 Awards for Best Booth Design and Best Debuting Products Of The Year were presented in an awards ceremony at 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 18 on the AG Productions' megastructure stage at LDI: Live Outside at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This year, LDI surpassed 16,000 in registration, a new record for the show. Thank you to all of you who descended upon Las Vegas this weekend. LDI hopes to see you next year, October 15-21, 2018 at LVCC for the 30th anniversary of LDI. The very first LDI was held in Dallas Texas in 1988, and there will be a yearlong celebration of that first event, culminating at next year’s LDI.

I love going to LDI. I have been 3 times if i remember currently. This was back when they were bouncing back and forth between Orlando Florida and Los Vegas. I would go and collect all the pamphlets from all the companies and look at all the new technology that had come out that year. I could never afford to take any of the classes but because i was a student at the time I got to walk the floor for as long as i wanted. I remember the last time I went to LDI in Orlando, the MAC lll series had come out, along with the bad boys, and the PRG V676 lighting console. That was the first time i was able to take a master class on the console and the Mac lll. I was so impressed, it became my favorite light to this day.

I love how unashamedly dorky this article makes me feel. I love that, even though it’s such a niche area of interest, the people of LDI are able to recognize leaders and innovators in their field. I am so happy to be a part of the group of people who find new products like those showcased amazing and super cool. I am most amazed by the projector that can be mounted near water. I wonder if its also able to project a clear image onto water? I think it is so great that people were able to gather together in Las Vegas and completely geek out over lighting and media instruments. These things usually serve as a support to a show and are hidden in the high catwalks and corners of a theatre so its great when they are able to be the main attraction so that the work that goes into each can be truly appreciated.
