Arcade Comedy venue grows more space to fill with laughter in new Downtown digs

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: A hint that Arcade Comedy Theater had room to grow was when it had to rent additional spaces to accommodate all of its activities. The nonprofit company that produces, presents and offers classes in the art of making us laugh was launched in 2013 from a Pittsburgh Cultural Trust storefront that was converted into a 75-seat theater at 811 Liberty Ave.

I don’t know that much about the comedy scene in Pittsburgh, but I what I do know about it is Arcade Comedy Theater. It’s the only comedy organization that I know of with an actual storefront in the downtown area. I like the of Arcade Comedy, because it’s not just an improv group or venue for lesser known touring comedians. It is a hub of comedy in the heart of downtown, now with even more space. I am curious to know a little bit more about their relationship with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. The Trust now has a few partnerships with independent organizations in town including the Pittsburgh Public Theatre and CLO Cabaret. The Trust ultimately wants to bring people downtown the Cultural District, so it makes sense that they would want to help them with finding more space, something that Trust has now acquired quite a lot of. All in all, it’s a great indicator for downtown that Arcade Comedy is doing well and a good thing for the cultural scene as well.
