Electric Zoo Festival Canceled Following Two Drug-Related Deaths
Billboard: Today (Sept. 1), the final day of the three-day Electric Zoo Festival was canceled by New York City government following two fatalities and after four concertgoers became critically ill and were placed in critical care units in area hospitals. The city claimed the deaths "appear to have involved the drug MDMA (ecstasy or molly)."

I think it was a smart decision to cancel the last day of the Electric Zoo Festival after 2 fatalities after drug abuse.
Festivals are great and all but it really is unfortunate that "ecstasy and other drugs have become the culture" at some of these festivals. Sometimes I wonder if there's any way that the police or the festival organizers can really fight this culture. That's why I think that cancelling the festival after two casualties was really the right thing to do. More than just showing condolence to the families and friends of the two victims, it is also an undisclosed way of telling the festival audience that drug abuse is not tolerated by the Festival organizers.
At least I'm glad to read that during the first two days of the festival, messages were broadcast over loudspeakers onsite and sent to all the attendees through smartphone app reminding the fans to be safe. I guess it's better then nothing, even if there were two casualties.
