Stings Musical 'The Last Ship' Is Coming to Broadway
Music News | Rolling Stone: Sting's musical The Last Ship is set for its Broadway debut, but not before a trial run in Chicago, according to The New York Times. The show will premiere in Chicago on June 10th and run through July 13th at the Bank of America theater. Broadway dates have not yet been announced.

I like Sting well enough to be interested in this show. But the article is a little ambiguous about which came first, the album or the story. Is this another jukebox musical? I'm not against jukebox musicals, I think they can be fun. (I'm waiting for the Michael Jackson jukebox musical) But I am concerned about the trend I'm noticing on Broadway where we turn movies, children's books, and album libraries from already successful artists into musicals. Are we afraid to take risks with new ideas?
