AV: Exploring Converging Techniques For Tuning Line Arrays
Pro Sound Web: A few years ago, I was asked to make a presentation about equalizing line arrays at an Electro-Voice concert sound seminar.
My specific assignment: discuss the equalization of line arrays in concert settings, in combination with Robert Scovill detailing his approach towards the same. In live sound almost every large venue concert tour utilizes a line array system in order to evenly project sound throughout the venue. With these shows entering and leaving a town within days its important for there to be an easy set way to rig and tune your line arrays.
It's is surprise to me that though these two people have come from two very different backgrounds they have very similar array tuning methods. It seems very often with these arrays there is a right way to do it and a wrong way, and once you have it down there is not that much that can vary.
