Review: 'Shakesburgh' brings the Bard dahntahn

TribLIVE: Swords are crossed and no holds are barred as Bricolage Production Company skewers Shakespeare in the season opening production of its Midnight Radio series.
For those joining this series in progress, it's important to know that the productions are neither at midnight nor on the radio.

oh Groves don't be such a ninny...

The first time I read about the Midnight radio Series last year I was intrigued. It sounds like a very interesting, witty, original and entertaining series. I like the idea of of the fake ads and weather reports and news interjected into the show. And as I'e recently become more and more interested in the Yinzer slang I wish I had known about Shakesburgh sooner so I might have had a chance to catch a show. Now before I finish, let me first apologize to Mr. Groves, it wasn't nice for me to call you a ninny. Second I realize that this style of show in't for everyone, I think my attraction to it comes for me love of the play Talk Radio by Eric Bogosian, which if you haven't seen it or read it is also a movie and currently streaming on NETFLIX, so watch it. It follows an evening with a controversial radio host as his nightly talk show goes national. When I helped produce this show while a part of my undergrad's student performing arts company we included a lot of similar elements that the Midnight Radio Series does. Now some of which are called for in the script, some were add ins but the theme was all there and I think that's one reason I'm so interested in what this series here in the Pittsburgh.
