I would love to know what the outcome of box office numbers are for this production. I really like the marketing art with the skulls. That's a great image! It would probably make me buy tickets, because I'm fascinated by the concept, which I love. The trailer, I was less impressed with. I think they probably should have made it shorter, because they gave too much away. It's a good thing they are going for a spoof, because I think lots of their effects look really cheesy, which is not the precedent they set in the first 30 seconds of the trailer, and certainly not the expectation they establish with the marketing art. However, in the beginning, with just the essence of the dialogue, you can tell that a lot of thought went into the execution of this and that it is probably really thorough. I'd definitely be interested to see it. Definitely a new take on Shakespeare...
As cheesy and as stupidly hilarious as this looks, it actually is pretty cool to see how this theatre company interpreted the lines of Shakespeare and his cleverly written lines. It seems like this is a great way to bring Shakespeare into a new light in a clever way. Having that cheesy and funny take on the lines brings to life the lines and the story without it seeming like it's trying too hard to get across the message or to get across a new world. Most often, when Shakespeare is put in a different world, it often times fails or just quite isn't there, but the tactics this group seems to have used looks like it would work in their favor.
