In 2024, we expect to see more gamified experiences and immersive technologies, as well as blood-curdling and branded location-based entertainment (LBE). Immersive hotels, dining venues and rides will keep coming, and wellness is worth keeping an eye on.

I also definitely noticed that immersive exhibits have been getting really really popular recently. In the past couple of years I think I’ve been to only two or three, but they’ve definitely been really cool, and I’ve enjoyed both experiences. However, I went to one that featured fine arts from the impressionist movement specifically, Claude Monet and I also went to one that mostly focused on the artwork of Gustav Klimt. However, I have only been to one immersive theater show that I saw in London. I think it was so incredible and super well done and even though it was more of a classic musical like guys and dolls, I think that making it a love them to modernize it a lot, and make it really entertaining for today’s audience. I’m really interested to see how the immersive exhibits based on TV shows work. I read about the Stranger Things one and I would think it would be really cool to actually experience it. I also thought it was really cool that virtual reality gets mixed in with these in person events.
I’ve always been interested in theme park and attraction technology - and seeing what’s becoming more and more popular in the industries is a really interesting read. Some of the trends mentioned in the article, I’ve noticed a lot, especially the increase in immersive art installations (one popped up in my hometown recently and it was an incredibly cool and remains an enduringly popular immersive gallery of different exhibitions), as well as immersive environments and the gamification of a lot of these environments. While this article is definitely geared more towards immersive and themed entertainment, I think that we can see a lot of these trends being reflected in theater with shows like Stranger Things: The Last Shadow utilizing more and more immersive effects to draw audiences and wow them (many with some form of the catchphrase “like never before”. Overall, while I haven’t personally seen some of the examples mentioned in the article, all seem very aligned with themed entertainment and the trajectory of technology and creative experiences currently in development. I'm excited to see how this kind of technology progresses!
I love immersive theater. I find it absolutely fascinating. The pictures in this article are truly mesmerizing. I would love to go to each and every single one of these events. Unfortunately I don’t think that I will be able to make it to them but if I am able to I would love to experience even just one of these gorgeous exhibits and parks. I love how diverse immersive theatre has gotten and how much more it includes and an umbrella term. I can’t wait until we have so much immersive theater and it is so wide spread that we have to come up with new words to properly define it and break it down into smaller categories to accurately represent what area of immersive theatre we are talking about. Overall, I absolutely loves this article and I wish that I could go inside all of these environments and immersive theatre experiences.
