Libertarian Glampers Finally Escape Burning Man Festival With Their Lives
www.wonkette.com: The 2023 Burning Man festival was a complete disaster, literally so this time. Torrential rain pummeled the event, held in a remote Nevada desert, and thousands of attendees were stranded, as the roads leading into the festival were impassable muck. The grounds themselves were thick sludge, with ankle-deep mud. People reportedly wrapped trash bags around their shoes or gave up entirely and walked barefoot in the poo water.

It’s good to know that people are able to finally safely leave Burning Man. I feel really bad for everyone that went and was stuck there. I have always been interested in Burning Man and thought that it would be fun to go one time, but this is definitely making me reconsider that. I wonder if it is possible for something like this to occur again in the future because of climate change. I think it is incredibly awful that someone has died because of this, and I wish there was a way for there to always be adequate amounts of food and water everywhere for when natural disasters like this occur. It must have been terrifying being stuck there with not adequate enough supplies and no idea of when it would be safe to go home. I mean I could not even imagine what it was like for some people to walk six miles in the mud, looking for a way out.
This was a fascinating article. Burning Man has always been a mysteriously unknown festival to me and I really felt like President Joe Biden when the article talked about how to tell him what goes on. It was surprising to me to learn that actual celebrities attend Burning Man, I very much thought it was for regular people, not famous ones. Regardless of what goes on at this festival, I am glad to hear that most everyone made it out. It is very sad to hear about the one death and I hope that that is the only death that came from this disaster. I hope a positive that comes from this disaster is better planning and infrastructure in the future. I hope that they can find a solution to the porta potty problem because that sounds like a nightmare. As well, maybe planning ahead and bringing more rations than originally intended in case something similar happens in the future and you aren’t able to leave the site.
Burning Man, a festival made for and by rich, white, straight, liberal, millennial men found itself in the midst of the torrential rain and ankle-deep mud. Finally, after a few days of being trapped the “libertarian glampers” finally managed to escape with their lives. I’m not saying anyone deserves to be trapped in the desert but there’s a reason this particular group got the news coverage that they did. The challenging conditions left thousands of attendees stranded in the Nevada desert, with emergency vehicles being the only means of transportation in and out of the area, a very scary situation to find yourself in. Despite the difficulties, some glampers remained optimistic while others, including celebrities, chose to leave early. Hearing about celebrities that chose to leave makes sense. I think a few of them claimed to have walked out but I just don’t believe that is true. The driving ban has finally been lifted, allowing attendees to leave. However, burning man will never be the same.
