As the article mentions, usually when I think of places where most films and TV are made, I think of Los Angeles, New York City, and Atlanta. But Chicago is the third largest city in the United States, so it makes complete sense that they’re seeing lots of production. It’s great to have a cultural hub in the Midwest area of the country, because it gives more opportunities to people further from the coasts, and can be more affordable than NYC or LA. This shows that tax credits really do work in bringing production companies to the area. I’ve only been to Chicago a few times but I do remember it was freezing cold in mid-March, so it also makes sense to film Christmas movies there; actors definitely won’t be sweating in their costumes. I’ve always considered Chicago as a possible place to live & work so this is great information to have.
