Since working on A League of Their Own, my eyes have been completely open to the absolute bullshit crews are put through in the film industry. 19+ hour work days, multiple Fraturdays, unsafe working conditions, etc. It was terrifying to see people I spend 60+ hours a week with rapidly becoming more and more burnt out. The potential of a strike really put hope in their eyes, and mine since I’ll be a part of a local soon. When the agreement was released and everyone returned to work on Monday, it was like nothing had changed. Everyone is just counting down the minutes to wrapping the show. While I am very lucky to learn from the amazing film crew Pittsburgh has, it’s also a shame to see how often they get so beaten down because of how reliable the people are. I know the members will vote against the current agreement, so we shall see what is to come in the next weeks.
