Check out this excellent video for the new Moog Sound Studio

Boing Boing: Moog Sound Studio, announced today, is a modular analog synthesizer "exploration station" designed to give even newbies the thrill of using patch cables to create a wide variety of sounds.

The video advertisement for this product was adorable! It was bright and had a bright style that reminded me of vintage comic books or Andy Warhol pop art! It seems to advertise to home audiophiles who enjoy making electronic music. It has a couple synths with an audio mixer and small patch bay and instructions for using the kit. It also gave consumers the option to select an instrument combination that “speaks to their musical style or sonic preference.” When I went to check the individual choices out online, both the webpages had 404: Page not found errors. I wonder if moog is still producing this product!
If its still around, I think this product is a great way to be introduced to sound design or mixing. It gets people over the initial learning curve that comes with the technology.
Overall, I wouldn’t choose to use the kit, but I’m not the intended audience! I’m not as interested in the creative part of sound design, or electronic music for that matter. I enjoy learning about the technology that makes the art form so complicated.
