Westworld’s S2 spoiler tease turns into Reddit-trolling Rickroll
Ars Technica: Westworld executive producers and co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy continued beating the hype drum for the TV series' second season with a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) thread on Monday. Ahead of the season's April 22 premiere on HBO, however, Nolan isn't just dropping hints of what to expect. He's suggesting that HBO is fully prepared to spoil the season before a minute of Westworld airs.

The marketing team for WestWorld seems to be having a lot of fun. First they had their amazing and in depth experience at SXSW, and then there's little jokes and wink-nudges like this. It seems like they've really been given free reign to do whatever they want, and given the budget HBO has been throwing at this show as a whole, I suppose it's just par for the course at this point. All joking aside, I really appreciate how the marketing for season two has teased the show's return without revealing hardly any plot points whatsoever. This feeling is particularly important to Westworld, a show that had some of the best mysteries and plot twists I've seen in their first season. It would be a shame to go in spoiled, so it's nice to be able to get excited and feel like I'm still going in blind. With the amount of marketing going on, I'm beyond excited for this show to return so I can dive back into the world of "Westworld".
To be completely honest, I saw the word "Westworld", clicked on the link and watched the video without really reading because I got so excited. I love this TV so much and I was excited to see spoilers to the new season, and I was tricked like everyone else. Like Patrick hinted at, I like how the Westworld team has done a good job at including pop culture references in their franchise. Throughout the first season, the player piano in the bar where a lot of the action happens plays a whole bunch of modern songs in an instrumental version, including a bunch of Radiohead songs. I love how the team is invested and appreciates the conspiracies that the fan base for this show. The way the story of this show is laid out, and how many twists their are, the amount of theories that come up are plentiful, and I wonder if the Westworld team has used any of the fan theories to continue building the plot. I think that this video was a good prank, and I can not wait to watch this new season.
