I am not the biggest fan of autocad or autodesk. Having used the product on various computing platforms, there is much to be desired in the way of improvement. The interface on a Windows is significantly different from the interface on a Mac. One would think that they would be nearly identical but I often find that I need to do a lot more searing through the menus to find things that, on my PC, were right there in the toolbar. There are a lot of people that swear by autocad because that is all they known. I am going to keep learning the software because it is what is used where I am at this time, but I am also going to branch out and learn other programs, at least to get the basics down for each. This way, No matter where I go, I have a basic understanding for what they use in the shop. Personally, for my freelance work, I am going to keep hand drafting my light plots until I get used to vectorworks.
