Breaking Character: The organizers of TEDxBroadway announced the release of the talks from the sold-out event held February 27, 2018 at New World Stages. The one-day event exclusively dedicated to asking, “What’s the Best Broadway Can Be?” showcased a wide variety of experts from an even wider variety of backgrounds, industries and perspectives.

I love TED talks. Like I really love TED talks. I love that TEDx exists, that so many more people have the opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions on the world on such a huge platform. I am glad that the organizers of TEDxBroadway have decided to release the talks at the 2018 conference online. I am always looking for new TED talks to watch. In high school, a good quarter of the lectures we had in our physics class were either TED talks that had to do with cool robots or TED talks that had to do with new discoveries in quantum physics. Recently, I saw a TED talk given by the head of the lighting department at Pixar on lighting animated films. She talked about her experience lighting Finding Nemo, and it honestly made me want to try my hand at lighting animation. The techniques she talked about (using clue color filters to manipulate underwater "space" and make the viewer believe that this movie took place underwater) I had not even thought of, but immediately started to think of the applications to theatrical and live design.
