www.broadwayworld.com: Fundraising records and gender norms alike were smashed by stars of stage, screen and pop music on April 2, 2018, at this year's inclusive, dynamic and loving Broadway Backwards.
The 13th annual edition of the show, which celebrates the LGBTQ community through gender-reversed renditions of beloved showtunes, raised an incredible $680,273 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City. The show was produced by Broadway Cares.

Broadway backwards is always a favorite of mine. While the idea is not necessarily original as MCC also does a huge benefit and the singers sing songs performed by the opposite gender. One of the best things about Broadway Backwards is that they raised over $600,000 in one night. That is crazy! Broadway cares is an extremely important group in the broadway community as they help so many organizations and help raise a lot of money for them. My favorite thing is watching the videos of the performers slowly getting relased and getting to watch them. You can see the actors are are actually really talented. One example of this is Ethan Slater. I have only seen him perform as Spongebob and his voice is changed for it so I have not heard him sing in his normal voice. Let me tell yall he is a great singer which was extremely surprising.
