August Wilson Society's Pittsburgh conference keeps the playwright's words front and center
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The August Wilson Society gathers in Pittsburgh April 26 with the theme “Go Back and Pick Up the Ball.” Fittingly, it is a line chosen from Wilson’s “Two Trains Running,” when the character Holloway says, “If you drop the ball, you got to go back and pick it up.”

What a fantastic event to have in Pittsburgh next weekend! I have really enjoyed visiting the August Wilson Center downtown in the past, and am always in awe of how this city is the home to one of the greatest and most important playwrights of the last century. August Wilson's work is some of my favorite, as it is just as poetic and unique as it is socially integral. I think that the conference on August Wilson that will take place next week is something that every student, especially those of us who are interested in theatre and the arts, should need to attend. We often talk about how important it is for School of Drama students to be seeing and taking in new theatre as much as possible, but I also think that it is important to take moments and go back in history to the playwrights and theatre makers who have come before us, and whose work we produce all the time. August Wilson and his work is more relevant today than ever, and hopefully people will be inspired to go to this event this week!
