Fashion Illustrations Playfully Combine Found Objects to Create Magnificent Evening Dresses

mymodernmet.com: Armenian illustrator Edgar Artis playfully combines his pencil-drawn fashion illustrations with real life, miscellaneous objects. His work to date includes food art masterpieces such as a magnificent spaghetti ball gown, and a kiwi cocktail dress. Other great examples include an elegant gown rendered from colored pencil shavings, and a puffy princess dress made from cotton wool balls. Artis’ most recent work continues to incorporate a wide range of found objects, which are cleverly positioned on hand-drawn, posing models to create three-dimensional ensembles worthy of the catwalk.

This is really cool! Using objects, plants, and foods to create beautiful clothing designs is such a creative way to create a composition full of color and a unique texture. I especially like the texture of the pasta dress, the sunflower dress, and the wheat dancer. I love texture. The texture of the pasta and the wheat grain is so cool, and I also like the texture that the layered berries make in that elegant gown, and the bubbly pancake texture of the pancake mini dress. I happen to constantly use the natural world as inspiration for design projects, and I think this is a brilliant use of nature for inspiration. I don't quite understand what Artis means by these dresses defying the "beauty and perfection" of "princess stuff" because I think that these designs are very beautiful despite being made from food and random objects. I think he does a very excellent job making us, the viewers, see these miscellaneous objects beautiful.
