Son of Palace Theatre founder visits historic Greensburg venue

TribLIVE: Michael Manolitsis was one of many immigrants who came to America with dreams and a can-do spirit that led to great accomplishments, his son said on Monday. Alex Manos, 84, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., spoke about his father as he and his wife, Marie, toured the Palace Theatre on West Otterman Street in Greensburg. His father's dream led to the Palace, formerly the Manos Theater, one of more than 100 theaters the family operated in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.

This story is truly inspiring. It shows that no matter your background or status, you can be the maker of your own life and future. What a great accomplishment to say that over the course of your life you are directly responsible for the founding/management of over 100 theaters in three states.

Wow! I have to agree with Nick here. It truly does show that anybody can really go on to do anything they want, as long as they are a good, hardworking, and reliable person. I have never been to Palace Theatre, but Manos and all his family are truly lucky to have their name remembered in this way. And they also brought theatre to so many different places as well! I just find this man's accomplishments amazing!
