2.1 Million Trade Jobs Could Go Unfilled. Milwaukee Just Stepped Up... Again

Pro Tool Reviews: We’ve talked for well over a decade about the shortage of workers in the skilled trades, and there have been a number of solid efforts to help fill the gap. One of the most promising is the Alliance for America’s Skilled Trades. Now, Milwaukee Tool has announced it’s coming on board, adding one of the most recognized names in professional power tools to the roster.

This is the first I’m hearing of the Alliance for America’s Skilled Trades, but its ambitious goals serve to benefit the entire economy, giving it all of my support. The gap in skilled trades professions has been growing steadily for multiple decades which is quite problematic in an ever advancing world going more and more digital. More advanced technologies, AI datacenters, Smarter Homes/Buildings, Electric cars, more efficient and expanding infrastructure, and more all require a dedicated workforce of trained trades professionals to build and service. We don’t yet have robots who can pick up the slack, and it doesn’t look like we will for a while. If the goal of 300,000 new workers is even remotely met, not only will our infrastructure and technology needs inch closer to being properly met, but an apparent boost to the national economy will be seen. 300,000 new workers mean 300,000 new people holding higher paying jobs, who take that money and better their livelihoods by spending it in their local economy, which helps local economies, and this effect will benefit everybody nationwide, not just the top 1%.
