Not just for laughs: Arcade Comedy Theater’s new director

But in the 1980s and ’90s, she was an actor based in Los Angeles, and one gig was on the hit NBC sitcom “Mad About You.” In season one, billed as Kathy Spitz, she played “Dana,” a character who was dating star Paul Reiser’s best friend and brought along her girlfriend to meet Paul.

I find it interesting that the person going to run a comedy club does not seem all that enthralled with comedy, which might be a good thing. It may be easier to be a non biased administrator if you don't have a horse in the race. I've been meaning to go see a comedy show at Arcade at some point here in Pittsburg. I've heard great things about the shakespear improv show, and I’m glad they have a new artistic director who wants to help out the company and help them evolve and stay relevant for years to come. I also had no idea that Arcade offered comedy classes, how fun! It's also interesting that she started out as an actress and decided to pivot to a more behind the scenes role in the arts. I think it's important that someone running anything in entertainment has some sort of background in the arts, rather than simply being a businessman running any other business.
