grandMA3 drives visuals for Lenny Kravitz’s Blue Electric Light Tour
TPi: Having successfully completed its European run of shows this summer, Lenny Kravitz’s Blue Electric Light Tour is preparing for its Americas leg, which will see the rock legend perform 14 shows during the final quarter of 2024. In this well-earned breathing space, MA spoke to Lighting Designer, Bryan Barancik and programmer Felix Peralta about their use of the grandMA3 for these shows.

I really enjoy reading about real life use cases of different lighting technology such as this one. MA3 is such a ubiquitous software in the touring industry for lighting and every time I read an article like this I learn something new about the software itself and the applications it can have. As someone just getting into the world of grandMA3 and learning the beginning ropes of it, reading about both the hardware and software used to support a show of this scale, combined with the expertise of the team on the show is really cool. I’m going to play with the selection grid a little bit in my next console session with the MA, I’ve only glanced at it and it seems like an incredibly powerful tool based off of this article. These lighting shows are huge (75 universes!!) and seeing how they are handled is always super interesting to me as I continue to learn about the system.
