TDF's Education Programs Have Returned to Pre-Pandemic Levels

Playbill: As TDF's 27th year of school programs comes to a close, it celebrates having served 10,600 students from over 160 schools. 10,000 of those students participated in the not-for-profit organization's Introduction to Theatre program, and the numbers mark a return for the programs to pre-COVID 19 pandemic levels of engagement.

I think that one of the most important things for the theater industry is getting kids and young adults involved. Without younger people, the theater industry will die out. Getting kids to go to shows not only gives them a valuable experience that they will enjoy immensely but also starts the process of getting a new generation interested in going to see shows their whole life or even interested in becoming artists themselves. Also, I believe that everyone should have access to theater and the ability to see live performances while they’re still in school. One of the biggest barriers to this is cost. Many students can not afford to go see live theater or don’t have easy access to it. Programs like this one that bring students to the theater are so important because they give kids an opportunity that they otherwise would not have. I am glad that numbers are back to what they were before the pandemic and I hope that they continue to grow.
