An Argentinian Summer Theater Festival in Wintertime Madrid
The Theatre Times: February is summer in Argentina, and most Argentinian theaters and companies are on holiday. However, it is wintertime in Madrid and theaters are open. Consequently, it is the best moment for companies from South America to come to Spain, or other places in Europe to show their productions and to spread the Argentinian accent, expressions and typical references.

I really love reading about theatre festivals in different parts of the world, as they truly exhibit the diversity that this art form has to offer. Argentina and Madrid have opposite seasons–February is summer in Argentina and February is winter in Madrid, thus it is the best time for South American theatre companies to travel to Europe to exhibit their productions and in this case, show and spread Argentine culture to Spanish audiences. This year, during the 7th edition of this festival, was held with two companies from Argentina, one from Uruguay, and three other which are based in Spain, but are made up mainly of Argentinians. Reading through the contents of the play–women's role in our society, sexuality, gender, culture, military occupation, etc–while these are not new topics, the plays seem innovative in both text and presentation. Again, reading about theatre festivals in different countries has illuminated the vast amount of theatre that pushes the boundaries of tradition, something that I value and would love to pursue in the future.
