HowlRound Theatre Commons: In Latin America, clowns have moved between circuses, theatres, streets, hospitals, and educational institutions. In places you cannot even imagine, a clown has existed. Society knows them well, since they have always been there, hence the almost universal acceptance of their antics and the understanding of their idiocy. But this social allowance towards clowns would not exist without validation from society.
