Manchester theatre staff use skills to upgrade homes after Covid layoffs

Manchester | The Guardian: A number of theatre workers who lost their jobs when the coronavirus crisis forced live venues to close are retraining to insulate and upgrade homes as part of the fight against climate breakdown. Stage hands, technicians and joiners from theatres and live venues across Manchester and the north-west are using their skills to retrofit homes in the region, installing insulation, fitting windows and upgrading heating systems.

This pandemic has caused plenty problems, affecting everyone from the top to the bottom in a way that seems almost irreversible when thinking about the long-lasting effects. However, the affects have impacted some groups more than the other, taking a hit at their livelihood.
The entertainment industry, particularly the theater industry has taken some of the biggest hits because of the pandemic. Millions employed have been laid off because theaters cannot be open hence there is no point in hiring employees, which has left so many of them unable to make ends meet.
Given this, it does not come as a surprise that these laid off employees have moved on to get jobs in other sectors or make new jobs as a way to cope with the affects that the pandemic has left on their financial conditions. I am very glad that this has happened, cause honestly, they deserve the very best at this point.
