The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is a thanksgiving tradition for countless families in New York City, the country and the world. Earlier this year I commented on an article that was talking about how this year Macy's decided to scale down the event from its 2 mile long course to only 1 city block and they decided to not have any audience this year. Although the parade was looking drastically different this year, a lot of the familiar elements, including performances from Broadway shows that are currently running. This year was a particularly emotional and special year for the Broadway shows that performed at the parade, given the current state of the Theatre industry. After the industry abruptly shut down in March, Broadway has been dark and no performers have been able to perform at all in the great city of New York. It was a refreshing symbol of hope of all the amazing things Broadway is and how important the industry is to our city. It was a show of resilience and perseverance, that Broadway will be back and better than ever before.
