Stark Sands and Billy Porter Will Strut Into Chicago Premiere of Kinky Boots Musical
Playbill.com: Stark Sands and Billy Porter will star as unlikely business partners in the world premiere of the new Broadway-aimed Cyndi Lauper musical Kinky Boots, about a shoemaker in trouble and the drag queen who saves his family business, which will debut in Chicago this October.

It is interesting to see the growing presence of drag queens on Broadway. The increasing support for the LGBTQA community and American's fascination with glitz, glamour, and extravagence presents a show like "Kinky Boots" with tremendous opportunity. Scheduled to open next season, less than a year after the closing of "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" (June 24, 2012), "Kinky Boots" will have to impress critics and theater-goers alike to separate itself from other uplifting, heart-warming shows featuring fabulous men in drag and a happily ever after plot. I look forward to seeing this show, not only as a fan of drag, but I am intrigued by a musical featuring drag and original music. I am also quite excited to see the "Kinky Boots" advertisement on Times Square...there's never a bad time for an awkward moment and a good laugh.
