'Magic Mike' costume designer talks tearaway pants
EW.com: “Someone asked me recently, ‘How important are clothes to a movie about stripping?’ And all I could say was, ‘Without the clothes, you really don’t have an act as a stripper. You’ve got to have something to take off,’” says Magic Mike costume designer Christopher Peterson. Fair enough.

As an aspiring Costume Designer and Head of Wardrobe and Makeup at my high school I can empathize with Christopher Peterson's magic Mike experience. I personally have not had to dress male strippers but I have had to dress Roger Debris's production team of essentric and sassy men and woman for The Producers. I have had some crazy costume experiences myself and would be interested to hear more of Christopher Peterson's experience on Magic Mike.
When producing a movie about male strippers, one wonders is there a line that should not be crossed. And the answer, though it is cloudy and uneven, is yes. It seems that the line is Channing Tatum's pants seam. My favorite part of this article is the designers involvement in the process and his enjoyment in ripping off his pants in front of his staff. This is yet another example of why i love design.
