This article reminds me of when I was 9 and my church got a brand new sound system. I got the opportunity to work with the sound guys and learn all about sound systems and how to mix, all skills that I still have to this day. When learning to mix I was actually asked very similar questions to those that this article presents. One thing I don’t particularly like though is the linear process that they present. Although I do think there are some linear steps, I don’t think of mixing as straightforward as this. Like for instance, I might go back and fix the gain after fixing what the EQ is doing, whereas in this article it makes it seem like once you’re done with it there is no going back. Overall though I think they ask good questions and it’s a good place to start for someone just starting off in the world of sound.
