JOB TITLE: Associate Technical Director

REPORTS TO: Technical Director

START DATE: As soon as possible

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with the technical director to manage all aspects in the planning, build, load-in, tech, maintenance of scenery, and technical needs for all productions and events at Goodman Theatre
• Create time and material estimates, schedules, and other documentation as required
• Technical design and engineering of scenery and automated effects (including winches, hydraulics, and pneumatics)
• Produce technical and construction drawings using AutoCAD
• Collaborate with designers and production departments to realize each production’s design within budget and on time
• Coordinate schedules for build and load-in with related production departments
• Oversee load-ins and attend technical rehearsals as assigned
• Maintain Quality and Standards of Goodman Theatre
• Enforce Goodman Theatre Health and Safety policies
• Maintain inventories and equipment at scene shop and theater
• Assist Production Manager in developing production calendar and budgets
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 3 years professional theatre experience in technical direction or related field required
• Extensive knowledge and experience in scenery construction techniques, time and material estimating, mechanical design, automation control, and stage rigging
• Must be proficient using AutoCAD, both 2D and 3D applications
• Ability to manage a diverse staff; experience with IATSE crews beneficial
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to multi-task multiple projects, delegate work, and be very detail oriented
• Work as a team member and maintain a positive attitude

This position is full-time salaried with benefits package.
