While the brief statistics mentioned in this article are interesting to read about with relation to people’s enjoyment of live music, the general framing of the article as well as the title itself is misleading and simply points to Live Nations attempt to reframe their data to promote further concert attending by posing live music as a key to happiness. Namely, the main statistic being used to create the title is that 40% of people choose live music if it is the only entertainment they could enjoy for the rest of their life. Not what they enjoy most about their current life, but if you could only do one thing for the rest of it, within the options available. Using this, as well as that 84% say that live experiences “give them the most life” which is just downright obvious and does not directly support the claim that live concerts are directly contributing to many people’s entertainment in the most significant way. Its exciting to see scientific approaches to understand our industry better, but when it is used categorically incorrect;ly, it is highly upsetting to see.

I think this is very surprising to me as live music events have gotten so expensive and tv, film, and social media based entertainment has become so accessible. Of course, this study might be biased because it was conducted by live nation, which wants to promote live music, but I still find it fascinating that people are seeming to be increasingly drawn to live music. I do see that concerts have become a part of personal identity. I often bond with people through music as one of the first connecting factors between me and someone I haven’t met, and sharing stories of seeing artists in concert is also a very common way of getting to know someone. I think this may be due to the fact that because the rest of entertainment is so accessible to an individual alone in their house, going out to a concert and enjoying music with other people is a treat and a landmark event in someone’s year, decade, or even life.

This is not shocking at all because I 100% agree!! I love live music so much, seeing your favorite artists whom you've anticipated seeing for months finally live for the first time is such a satisfying experience. Seeing music you love with people that love it as well is also such a great feeling. One of the best feelings during a concert is when the music, and the crowd are great. This is because music is such a spiritual and powerful entity. It's something that is not only extremely powerful virtually or digitally, but it is so impactful live. I remembered hearing someone say once that they used to think they could feel god in church because of the church choir but then they went to a concert while they were older and realized it was just live music that had them feel that way, which is so so true.

I have often wondered why live music has always been and continues to be the form of live entertainment that draws the largest crowds. I believe that ultimately how the stage looks and what is happening on stage is not as relevant as what is being played out loud. Whereas theatre for example needs the visual to aid the story telling the same is required for opera and ballet. With the development of video walls and large screens we can provide live streams to those screens similar to Sports but the execution of this is difficult and often detracts from the live experience where music is often presented from the modern perspective. Sports often draws large crowds but nothing will compare to the huge crowds drawn by music festivals. I believe that although sports film are a part of our lives music has a way to be a part of almost every aspect of our lives. Therefore the outreach and impact of this artform will draw larger crowds because it reaches large audiences.

I love live music, and I agree with this article in that I think it’s one of my favorite forms of entertainment. There’s something about being in a room with people who are creating art right there in the moment, and I think music is particularly magical because of the way all the different aspects of it blend together. One of my favorite shows I’ve ever worked on was Hadestown high school edition at a local regional theater. I big part of why I enjoyed working on this show so much was because of the music; we had a live band that was on stage with the other performers, and so every night they were creating beautiful music together. Sometimes, some small things would go wrong, but that's okay, that's the magic of it being live. On the other side of that, sometimes things would just blend perfectly, and it would be the most incredible thing ever.

I am sure this questionnaire is completely unbiased and all the information and spin on the information is completely unguided by the multibillionaire corporation. Even the news outlet is for news on ticketing & information. News has been driven by corporations for attention and advertisement for decades now and real, unbiased news that is not inflammatory is increasingly sparse and hard to find. I am sure there actually is some truth in this growing trend for higher value placed on entertainment and experiential events. The production value going into these events have been skyrocketing ever since the first concerts and events that have been put on in 1891 by the Marine Band. With the efforts that are being put into theses events ticket prices have skyrocketed and the amount of people that can attend these events have increased to the tens of thousands. This also follows into infrastructure behind having all these people concentrated into these concert halls and stadiums
