OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. This is like the biggest news ever to me. Christopher Wheeldon is the epitome of the type of theatre I want to do. I have watched nearly every work of his and he is just the absolute master at blending theatre and dance. If I had to name my ultimate dream job, it would be to work on one of his works. Previously, he has done works through major companies like The Royal Ballet, or New York City ballet. Making his own company actually gives me so much hope that I might be able to find work in this very specific dance, musical theatre, fusion work without having to work in opera as well. My obsession with Christopher Wheeldon began in high school when I was doing a production of The Winter’s Tale as well as Romeo & Juliet the Ballet. I found out that he had made a Winter’s Tale ballet. From there I was hooked and my senior musical was actually An American in Paris!

I absolutely love it when a new production company gets started. It is also so exciting that this company will be focusing on original works as well as investing in TV, commercials, film, and dance. I think it is so important that as artists we continue to grow and work on creating new things. The Broadway and theater world has gone into an Era where the shows and art that are selling are old works and shows and stories that have been done over and over again. I am always super glad when artists strive for new ideas and new works. If we are always recreating the same shows and stories, how can we ever grow and learn? I love the story of the company’s name: Toy Theater Productions, which is based on the founder's childhood start in theater being creating sets from cardboard, this really reflects their values of creating new works!
